When an Aman opens, devotees travel the globe to experience whatever distinctive setting, seductive design, and cutting-edge service it has created next. After your morning stroll, personnel at Amangiri in Utah will welcome you by name and give you a cold towel. It was established amid canyons and mesas in 2009. The general manager of Amanyara in Turks & Caicos tucked away in an 18,000-acre natural reserve, will remember your preferred seat and beverage on the white-sand beach. A melancholy live performance of Moroccan music by candlelight may be played during supper at the opulent Amanjena in Marrakech.
Aman hotels are typically located outside major cities in breathtaking natural settings, from Bhutan to Greece. With its wonderful setting in a forest close to Kinkaku-ji temple, Aman Kyoto, which is officially in a city but feels a world away, and Aman Tokyo, which is located in the dizzying Otemachi Tower, are two exceptions. One of Manhattan's most highly anticipated hotel launches in recent years, the hotel was designed as an urban retreat and opened in August 2022. The city I call home, with its throngs of people, horn-blaring vehicles, and dizzying skyscrapers, was the inspiration for it, but not its rich cultural traditions, such as jazz, notable architecture, and exceptional gastronomy, which set New York City apart from other places on Earth.
Inside the hotel
The hotel, famously the most costly in the city with rooms starting at $3,200 per night, seeks to build an opulent urban sanctuary on Fifth Avenue that is built on exclusivity and a dedication to solitude. The property has a spectacular 20-meter swimming pool and is 2,300 square metres in size over three stories, with fire pits.

Aman New York mixes natural elements and green spaces throughout its outdoor spaces, including private spa facilities and a 7,000-square-foot wraparound garden terrace on the hotel's lounge level, despite being in a metropolitan setting. In the midst of this metropolitan environment, the terrace's reflection pool, many fire pits, outdoor bar, and dining areas create harmony and calm. Since it has a retractable roof, the area may be used annually. Many members live close to the hotel; Aman New York is also the first location with designated Aman Club spaces.
